Background
A community initiative supported by The Hong Kong Jockey Club to promote awareness about environmental protection and the importance of clean air; students will learn from interactive activities and enlightening exhibits.
Programme Content:
The 3-part programme comprises "Clean Air" educational activities like interactive stories and games; exhibition set-ups on the pioneering LPG vehicle of Ocean Park; and post-activity worksheets to inspire further self-exploration.
i) Activity
Two levels of content are developed to suit the needs of primary 1-3 and primary 4-6 students in which an interactive talk with a CD-Rom presentation, a role play and an interactive games activity are included.
- Lower Level: P1-3
Students learn the importance of water and plants and discover the adverse impact of air pollution on human beings, through the interactive story with CD-Rom presentation: "The Amazing Journey of Water Droplet" and game.
- Upper Level: P4-6
Students have the chance to discover masses of information about animals and methods of how to reduce air pollution in our daily life through the use of role-play and interactive games.
ii) Exhibition on the LPG Vehicle
An interactive exhibit is set up in the LPG vehicle, allowing all students in school to have the chance to learn about air pollution during breaks or at lesson time. By means of a multi-media presentation, students can learn more about the interesting and fun information of the animals at Ocean Park as well as discovering the joys of learning.
iii) Post-activity Worksheet
After participating in the Clean Air Outreach, students are encouraged to complete the post-activity worksheet aimed at building on their learning experiences and aiding further independent exploration and study.
Post-activity worksheets include:
- Task 1: Clean Air Slogan Design
Come up with a slogan based on the theme "Let's have clean air".
- Task 2: Clean Air Poster Design
Design a poster calling for the effort for a "Clean Air, Clean City, Clean Ocean" with the aim being to show the relationship of city, air and ocean.
- Task 3: Clean Air Daily Tips
Air quality is of vital importance to human, how can we improve air quality in city by altering our daily habit?
